Enjoying the machine

My honest thoughts

Firstly i bought this machine under the impression that it had a 5kg spool capacity which according to the website description at the time it did state it only used 5kg spools, so lets start with the machine, quick start guide explained in detail how to setup the wire in the machine and how to setup for flux core easily enough so that anyone can understand so that was good, secondly there is absolutely no recommend welding parameters either on the machine or in the user manual or quickstart guide which will absolutely throw someone who buys this as a first machine completely off, there is no electrode holder with the machine so you'll have to either have one or make one up for the machine if you intend to stick weld with the machine also, the model of the machine does not correlate with the amperage capable by the machine as the name 160e only has a max amperage of 135, the torch is what you would expect for the price you are paying i am intending on upgrading in the future as the torch feels like a toy and the trigger is extremely sticky in the start but it does work in, the earth lead leaves a lot to be desired and i chucked it back into the box and used one i had on a hand that was a bit higher rated with a thicker cable that i was sure wasn't going to overheat, i also didn't receive a carry strap that the manual implies is supposed to be shipped with the machine, the helmet is of okay quality actually of a better quality then the pinnacle garage auto darkening helmet i bought a few years ago, the wire that comes with the machine is okay to run a few beads and get a feel for the machine, overall for the price if your just trying to get into the hobby and don't want to spend a lot of money i would recommend this machine, i have already fixed my dads braai stand with this machine and built a new workbench with this machine using only the flux core function

So firstly i have to knock a star off off it as the website advertised the machine as a 5kg spool only machine which is what i wanted, the machine only supports 1kg spools after a call with enzo explaining the issue which he got fixed on the site, so after that there is no weld parameters anywhere on the welder or the box that o could see which will make it difficult for a person getting into welding and bought this machine to learn how to propperly utilise it, the quickstart guide is okay that helps, but when it comes to welding, definitely try a better wire then the 400g spool you get with the machine, It does weld but definitely do that, and when welding with the machine with a couple of on what amps and wirefeeds to start with, the welder welds actually enjoyably. Its a smaller machine than i expected, has a bit of figuring out to do, but with some research and a couple runs on scrap pieces, the machine runs exactly how it should for the process it is and for the amount that was paid for it, so minus the inconvenience of the innacurate description and lack of guidance when getting this machine ( parameters wise) just the welding alone on it, makes it easy, and to any new guy reading this review to buy the machine remember these 2 most important things i have found, when setting up the welding machine make sure you are set up on DCEN, slow down your movement speed, just practice you'll get a feel for the machine real quick
