ERNi-CI TIG welding rods are precision-formulated for high-integrity welds on cast iron, nickel alloys, and dissimilar metals. With ≥99% nickel purity, this filler metal offers excellent wetting, low dilution, and minimal cracking—even on aged or contaminated base metals. Ideal for pump housings, valve bodies, heat exchangers, and repair work in corrosive or high-temperature environments.

These 3.2mm x 350mm rods are batch-sorted for arc stability and minimal porosity. Designed for DCEN polarity with argon shielding, they deliver machinable welds with high tensile strength and excellent corrosion resistance.

Applications

  • Welding grey, ductile, and malleable cast iron
  • Joining pure nickel and nickel alloys (e.g., Monel, Inconel)
  • Dissimilar metal joints: nickel to steel, cast iron to stainless
  • Machinable overlays for pump housings, valve seats, and heat exchangers
  • Repairs in chemical, petrochemical, marine, and power generation sectors

Welding Parameters

  • Process: TIG (GTAW)
  • Polarity: DCEN (Direct Current Electrode Negative)
  • Shielding Gas: 100% Argon
  • Preheat (Cast Iron): 150–300°C depending on section thickness
  • Interpass Temp: ≤ 150°C to reduce HAZ cracking
  • Post-Weld: Controlled cooling or furnace cooling recommended

Chemical Composition (Typical)

  • Nickel (Ni): ≥ 99.0%

    • Base metal for corrosion resistance, ductility, and weld purity
  • Carbon (C): ≤ 0.15%

    • Controls hardness and reduces cracking risk
  • Iron (Fe): ≤ 0.75%

    • Enhances strength and balances ductility
  • Manganese (Mn): ≤ 1.0%

    • Improves toughness and grain structure
  • Silicon (Si): ≤ 1.0%

    • Enhances fluidity and arc stability
  • Copper (Cu): ≤ 0.5%

    • Supports conductivity and mechanical strength
  • Sulfur (S): ≤ 0.03%

    • Minimizes porosity and cracking tendency
  • Other Elements: ≤ 0.50% (combined)

    • Trace elements for alloy balance and weld consistency
